How it works:
The system we have allows the microscopic particles of salt to be dispersed in the air. The tiny particles are inhaled into the airways and deep in the lungs aiding mucus release and reducing inflammation within the airways allowing these to widen for easier breathing. This is especially beneficial for lower and upper respiratory problems including COPD/RAO and coughing which can be caused by allergies and infection.
To treat skin issues your horse will be rug free allowing the salt particles to be absorbed into the skin alleviating skin issues such as sweet itch, ringworm and general allergies.
Salt Therapy can work along side your vets advice or treatments. It is a complimentary, choice therapy which is 100% natural and drug free.
The Power of Salt (Sodium Chloride)
The purer the salt, the more percentage of sodium chloride, the more effective the salt will be in providing the characteristics of being super absorbent, anti-inflammatory and anti bacterial. Pure sodium chloride is natural mined salt that eliminates all the trace elements, minerals, dirt and debris so you are left with 99.99% pure sodium chloride.
Helping the horse breathe
Helping horses breathe better is what we do. Salt therapy is unique in this sense because the therapeutic effects of the salt get right into the lungs, open the airways, reduce inflammation and cleanse infection.
During the session, when the horse breathes, tiny particles of salt go into the airways and deep into the lungs. The salt acts like an expectorant, loosening and clearing mucus, destroying harmful bacteria and reducing inflammation, making more room in the airways for the horse to breathe.
For this reason, it can help alleviate so many equine breathing problems. The knock-on effect includes improved lung function, increased stamina and faster recovery following high performance work. Salt therapy also helps with seasonal irritants such as spores and dust or summer allergens.
Why it works for the Skin?
The salt particles bearing a negative electrical charge come into contact with the skin and influence the skin’s protective layer and hairs by causing a ph normalisation. This activates electrical stimulation to the skin cell, increases the production of collagen fibres, which is a key process to skin repair and rejuvenation thus enhancing the overall wellbeing of the skin giving it strength.
Additionally, negative ions, which are absorbed into the body during the therapy, help strengthen the immune system by increasing the production capacity of lymph cells. This aspect will help improve the body’s reaction to the ailment.
